We are excited to present to you this fun and colourful children’s book series, Discover Your SUPERPOWER, written by Nadia Fourie and illustrated by Erna van der Merwe.
There is a rich diversity of spiritual gifts within the body of Christ. The gifts explored in this series, described as “superpowers”, are rooted in Romans 12 and relate to character-based service, while distinguishing them from the Spirit-powered manifestations in 1 Corinthians 12 and ministerial roles in Ephesians 4. These different types of gifts work together harmoniously, reflecting God’s brilliant design. Using prophecy as an example, the author explains in the foreword how its expression varies across these three categories, from innate character traits to spiritual acts and formal church roles.
Nadia Fourie swapped commercial law and corporate leadership for a courageous, God-led adventure. Passionate about identity and purpose, she writes to help children discover who God created them to be – one joyful adventure at a time.

It is these character-based gifts from Romans 12 that are the focus of this book and the subsequent books in the series. This is the introductory volume, thereafter each volume will focus one of the seven Romans 12 gifts.
Each child has certain traits that can be associated with these gifts, which will help them understand their purpose and importance in life.
The book is designed for two audiences: adults (parents or caregivers) and young children. For adults, the text provides deeper theological and developmental insights, equipping them to interpret and communicate these concepts to children in accessible ways. For children, the book uses vibrant illustrations and engaging characters to foster curiosity and emotional connection, even if the written text is beyond their current understanding. The overarching aim is to encourage shared reading experiences, nurturing dialogue, bonding, and blessing the unique gifts within each child, helping them discover and develop these gifts as they grow.
