My Story, in Pursuit of Healing is a faith-centred memoir that explores the lasting impact of childhood trauma, survival identity, and misplaced spiritual guilt. René Abrahams shares her upbringing amid instability and gangsterism, where resilience was necessary for survival, yet came at the cost of peace. As her life unfolded through family, loss, and faith, she was compelled to confront the emotional and spiritual consequences of unhealed wounds. She began to recognise the false belief that gratitude should cancel pain, and how survival mode distorted her identity, relationships, and understanding of God.
This book is not a testimony of instant healing, but of process. Through lived experience and spiritual reflection, she reveals healing as a progressive, faith-anchored journey rather than a single moment of breakthrough.

Forgiveness, truth-telling, and surrender became essential steps towards wholeness. Survival kept her alive, but it never gave her peace. She came to understand that Jesus did not come for her to merely survive her past, but to live fully and freely. As Scripture reminds us, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” ‒ John 10:10.
My Story, in Pursuit of Healing is written for women, survivors, and believers who are still standing but are quietly weary. It is an invitation to lay down survival and pursue healing ‒ by the grace of God
